SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

The MEYHM Family Foundation Scholarship Program is a financial assistance program that provides gap funding to a select group of youths and adults of refugee and asylum seeker families residing in the DC/MD/VA (DMV) metropolitan area. Beneficiaries must demonstrate strong vocational or academic skills, financial need, and community engagement. Scholarship awards may be renewed in certain cases related to higher education learning.

ELIGIBILITY:
  1. Applicant must have refugee or asylum status with legal right to reside, attend school or work in the USA.
  2. Applicant must be 18 years or older applying for either: (a) vocational program at an accredited vocational training institution; or (b) admission to a 2-year or 4-year community college, state or online university with tuition cost not exceeding $400 per credit hour.
  3. Applicant’s family must have reported less than $60,000 adjusted gross income (AGI) in the previous calendar year, as proven by filed tax return or equivalent.
  4. For college level coursework, applicant must have achieved a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 (at end of academic year prior to submitting application).
AWARDS:
  1. Applicant will be notified in writing if selected as a finalist and interview will be scheduled shortly thereafter.
  2. Scholarship recipient (beneficiary) will be chosen by MEYHM Family Foundation based on applicant’s legal status, academic achievement, financial need, community engagement, and strength of application/interview.
  3. Funds may only be used to pay the net cost to attend beneficiary’s institution (less any other financial assistance, scholarship or grant awarded to beneficiary).
  4. Funds will be disbursed by MEYHM Family Foundation directly to the institution on beneficiary’s behalf. No funds will be sent directly to beneficiary.
