Caregiver Program

The MEYHM Family Foundation Caregiver Education Program helps families care with confidence by teaching practical skills for supporting loved ones living with disability, chronic illness, or sudden medical changes. Our workshops are accessible, culturally responsive, and designed for real life caregiving at home. The Caregiver Program includes:

Education related to safe movement/transfers, personal care, medication organization, nutrition support, and home safety.
Training for stroke recovery, brain injury, Parkinson’s, cancer care, dementia, and aging related needs.
Stress management tools, communication skills, peer support, and monthly sessions with licensed therapists.
Classes offered in community-based locations, multilingual instruction, and virtual learning options.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must have refugee or asylum status with legal right to reside in the USA.
Be 18 years or older; minors may attend if accompanied by an adult.
Submit proof of medical diagnosis/diagnoses as part of application process, as well as brief description of deficits/physical status.
Be proficient in English.

Additional Program Information:

Applicants will be notified of acceptance into program within 2 weeks of application submission.
Class schedule will be released at least 2 weeks prior to day of session.
Once accepted, participants must sign up for session in advance by email.
Classes will be 2 hours in duration and offered during non-business hours (evenings and/or weekends).
Classes will be offered both in person and virtual format/setting.
